We had some fun giving this dull powder room a facelift. We kept the basics – the vanity cabinet and granite top didn’t change. However, we coated every surface with a new finish, and the result is a fresh new space that feels clean, up to date, and pleasant. Here’s the to do list:
- The cabinets were painted SW Urbane Bronze in a high gloss lacquer. Cabinet pulls are our favorite: Top Knobs’ Tower Bridge in polished nickel.
- The walls are Thibaut Etosha Pearl, which has a cool, slightly reflective finish that looks refined, not Vegas.
- Notice we didn’t forget the ceiling. It’s SW Hinting Blue in a flat finish.
- The trim was updated, too. We avoid semi gloss on trim, opting for high gloss paint instead. SW White is a great basic. You’ll notice Millwork looks brighter with high gloss, and dust doesn’t collect as easily. What a bonus!
- Our mirror is an antiqued glass with no frame. Simple and understated because the wallpaper is the star in this room!
- Of course, no room is complete without art. And Van Gogh is our favorite! We had a poster glazed, which created cracks and added sheen, then lacquered an old gold frame in crisp white. Love it!
- No Charleston home is complete without a nod to our coastal setting, and these framed shells from Wendover do just that. A silver shadow box frame and linen mat enhance the unique shells beautifully.
- Global Views large matte white urn and Bradburn Gallery floor clock complete the space.
